MEET THE OFFICE BEARER’S OF BWM

Badan Warisan Malaysia is proud to introduce our office bearers who are experts in architecture, conservation, cultural heritage, real estate and cultural management. Our office bearers were members of the council before being elected to their current positions at the BWM Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 20th December 2014.

 

LAURENCE LOH

Currently the President of Badan Warisan Malaysia, Laurence is a leading conservation architect and cultural heritage expert in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region. His conservation work has been recognized with the following UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards: Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (2000 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards, Most Excellent Project), the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple (2003 Award of Merit), the Restoration of Merdeka Stadium, Malaysia’s Stadium of Independence (2008 Award of Excellence) and Suffolk House (2008 Award of Distinction).

With Badan Warisan Malaysia, he participated in drafting the Conservation Management Plan for George Town as part of the World Heritage Dossier.

 

HELENA HASHIM

Helena Hashim is a professional architect with over 20 years’ experience.  A graduate of the University of Miami, Florida, USA, she is presently lecturing at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment, University Malaya. Helena was part of the consultancy team for the restoration of Stadium Merdeka (2008 UNESCO Award of Excellence). She was also part of the team who prepared the Conservation Management Plan for George Town as part of the Nomination Dossier submission for UNESCO World Heritage listing.

Helena is currently pursuing her postgraduate doctoral studies in the area of conservation at University of Malaya and is the Deputy President of Badan Warisan Malaysia.

 

CHRISTOPHER BOYD

Christopher Boyd has been the Executive Chairman of the CB Richard Ellis Malaysia group of companies since 2001. After passing the final exams of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in the UK in 1969, he took up a position with Jones Lang Wootton, based in Australia. From 1981 he served as a director of Jones Lang Wootton Singapore before setting up the Malaysian office of Knight Frank Baillieu in 1986.

In 1995 he retired from Knight Frank Baillieu to lead MUI Properties Berhad before resigning to join Regroup Associates Sdn Bhd. In 2009 Regroup affiliated with CB Richard Ellis. Christopher Boyd serves as the Honorary Treasurer for Badan Warisan Malaysia.

  LIM EE LIN

Lim Ee Lin has a background in Arts and Education having started as a lecturer before moving on to Arts & Culture Management with the British Council. She then joined Badan Warisan Malaysia, where for 10 years she worked on education, projects and centre management. She is currently the Honorary Secretary of Badan Warisan Malaysia.Among the project papers she helped developed were on a tourism bus plan for an ASEAN city and a local island destination. A qualified tourist guide licenced by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, she is also a JMM Museum Volunteer Guide. She currently works for an NPO which promotes youth volunteerism.
