About the Talk

Stilt Houses—The Floating World of Kampung Baru is an art project by Leon Leong that chronicles Kampung Baru’s history and the momentous changes it faces at this critical juncture. The work traces how lived environments are altered over time—by policy, by people, and by survival—offering visual meditations on how communities adapt, rebuild and remember. In the talk, Leong will share about the making of the series, and also his investigations into the informal architecture in Kampung Baru and the evolving nature of shelter.
